BOMA International recognized three BOMA local and state associations this week for their excellence in grassroots and advocacy issues through the Government Affairs Awards of Recognition Program (the "Govies"). BOMA/Chicago was recognized in the Outstanding Government Affairs Committee category for its Emergency Preparedness Committee and Security Subcommittee. Through the expertise and dedication of members, these committees have created partnerships with the City of Chicago that national emergency management leaders have held up as a national model.

In the Single Government Affairs Program or Seminar category, BOMA/Atlanta was honored for its annual legislative day at the capitol. This event has seen its appeal grow as it allows members to easily access lawmakers and promote commercial real estate’s issues.

BOMA Florida was recognized in the Single Government Affairs Issue category for its work in securing a defeat of Florida Amendment 4. If passed, Amendment 4 would have required voters to approve all local comprehensive land use plan changes, rather than having those changes approved or rejected by city or county commissions. Had voters approved the measure, it would undoubtedly have set a national precedent.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.bomaflorida.org/newsroom/see-legislative-tab-for-newest-information.html"><rss:title>See Legislative tab for newest information</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.bomaflorida.org/newsroom/see-legislative-tab-for-newest-information.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.bomaflorida.org/newsroom/boma-international-releases-top-10-tips-to-prepare-for-hurri.html"><rss:title>BOMA International Releases TOP 10 Tips to Prepare for Hurricane Season</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.bomaflorida.org/newsroom/boma-international-releases-top-10-tips-to-prepare-for-hurri.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>BOMA International Hurricanes Newsroom Tips</dc:subject>
(WASHINGTON, DC-June 1, 2007) Hurricane season officially kicks off today and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International has released its top 10 tips for property professionals to prepare for a hurricane or natural disaster.
</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.bomaflorida.org/newsroom/boma-florida-member-jeffrey-gross-becomes-florida-building-c.html"><rss:title>BOMA Florida member Jeffrey Gross Becomes Florida Building Commission Chair!</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.bomaflorida.org/newsroom/boma-florida-member-jeffrey-gross-becomes-florida-building-c.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>BOMA Florida Member Newsroom Resume</dc:subject>
We are pleased to announce that our BOMA Florida member Jeffrey Gross who serves on our Government Affairs Committee is now the Florida Building Commission Chair.
</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
